Jack Jay McFarland's Obituary
Jack McFarland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on November 27th, 2024, at the age of 93. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 8, 1931, to Jon McFarland and Peggy Grandstaff (Jennings), Jack lived a life full of service, adventure, and love for his family, community, and hobbies. Jack married the love of his life, Judi McFarland in Miami, Oklahoma on February 11th, 1971. They spent many years together and created never-to-be-forgotten memories.
Jack’s career as a police officer with the Tulsa Police Department spanned many years, during which he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community. He was a proud member of the National Order of Police and a life member of the National Rifle Association. After retiring from the police force, Jack remained deeply involved in his community, staying connected with organizations such as Elk Lodge #948, Moose Lodge #862, and the Police Lodge.
A man of many passions, Jack was an avid sports enthusiast. He excelled in javelin, shot put, and handball, competing in police and fire games and the Police Olympics, both in the U.S. and abroad. He represented his country in events in Spain, Australia, Canada, and Ireland, where he became well-loved by his fellow athletes from all over the world, including Ireland, Sweden, and Germany. Jack’s love for competition was matched only by his commitment to helping others and making a difference in his community.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Jack had a deep love for pets, always adoring every animal he met and treating them with the same kindness and warmth he showed his family. He also had a great love for yard work, enjoying the simple pleasures of maintaining his home and garden.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Judi McFarland; his daughters, Dee Ann Bocock and Jana McFarland; his son, Jay McFarland; and his seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom were his pride and joy.
