Jack H. Staab's Obituary
Jack Henry Staab, 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on January 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, January 9, 2016, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2016, at Floral Haven Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.Jack was born on May 1, 1936, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of Murray Craig “M.C.” and Dorothy LaVerne (Buck) Staab. He was named after his father’s employer and his grandfather’s name was Henry. Due to his father’s employment with the Jewel Tea Company he moved a lot, living in Pittsburg, Tulsa, Kansas City, Joplin, and Lacrosse, WI, before moving back to Tulsa. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1954. At that time Central was the largest school in the country with over 4000 students. His graduation class had over 1200 seniors.He graduated from the University of Tulsa, with a major in Radio and Television Production. While attending T.U. he worked on the school’s F.M. radio station KWGS as an announcer. Writing and reading the news, hosting music programs, doing play by play announcing of football, basketball, and baseball on the T.U. station. After graduating, he worked as a D.J. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at KWON.He worked for the Social Security Administration interviewing applicants for Social Security benefits and determining their eligibility.On July 30, 1972, Jack married the love of his wife, Wilma (Glenn) Staab.Jack is survived by his wife, Wilma, daughters, Deborah Ann Hayes, and Jill Kathleen McKenzie, both of Ardmore, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Christopher Hayes, Aaron Hayes, and his wife, Stephanie, Katrina Hayes, Madison McKenzie, and Rebecca McKenzie, all of Ardmore, great-grandchildren, Landon Hayes, and Addilyn Hayes, sisters in law, Nancy Staab, and MaryAnn Staab, both of Tulsa, and numerous other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his father, M.C. Staab, mother, Dorothy LaVerne Staab, and his brothers, Dr. Richard C. Staab, and Dr. Robert J. Staab.Memorial donations may be made in Jack’s name to the TU Hurricane Club, 800 S. Tucker Drive, Tulsa, OK 74104.
