Jack Williams' Obituary
Jack Newton Williams departed this world on October 21, 2025 in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. He was 88 years old.
Jack was born on September 27, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Isaac N. Williams and Violet Williams throughout his life. He was dedicated to his family and his love of cooking and helping others.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Williams, sister, Judy Gray, brother-in-law Marvin Gray, grandson, Stephen, Farrell and nephew John Gray . Jack leaves many cherished memories and lots of love in the hearts of his family and friends.
He has survived by daughters Robin Taylor and her husband, Ron of Anadarko, Oklahoma, and Jacqueline Wright of Littleton Colorado . Known as papa to his grandchildren, Robin Sims and her husband, Elliot of Denver, Colorado, Jeremy Wright, and his wife Loreli of Littleton, Colorado, Christopher Wright and his wife Courtney of Plano, Texas, Justin Taylor and his wife Bridget of Yukon, Oklahoma and Jordan Huertas and her husband Dylan of Lawton, Oklahoma. Jack also leaves behind seven cherished great grandchildren.
Jack and Sylvia purchased Elmo‘s grill in 1960 from the original Elmo and chose not to change the name that decision resulted in patrons calling him Elmo everywhere he went people who had eaten at the diner would recognize him and always said hi and would tell him how much he and his diner were missed. He was so respected as a restaurant owner and chef that an NPR piece was broadcast about him and Newspaper articles were published. Though everything he cooked was delicious. There was always a line out the door on Wednesdays and Saturdays for his chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy.
After closing the restaurant Jack worked at the University of Tulsa and then retired from Tulsa Public schools. Jack served as a member of the US Naval Reserves and was also a 32nd° mason of the Scottish Rite.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 3-5 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home
Funeral service will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
