Jackie "Jack" Steele's Obituary
Jackie Lee Steele ("Jack"), resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away at the age of 83 on Sunday, June 28th, 2026, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jack was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time of his passing.
He was born on April 9th, 1943, on the family farm in Chandler, Oklahoma, in Lincoln County. Jack was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma. He graduated in 1961 from Central High School in Tulsa. Jack was one of the original members of Home Gardens Church of Christ in West Tulsa, which he also helped build as a teenager.
He was a longtime manager of Safeway Grocery, and later the co-owner of S&S Grocery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and owner of Movie World Video in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Jack raised his family of three with his then-wife in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He enjoyed trips to the lake, family vacations, going on hunting trips during bow and rifle season with his friends, and took great pride in having the lushest, greenest lawn in his neighborhood. Jack loved the outdoors and found peace at the lake with his family, and he would load up his RV and boat and head to Lake Kestone or Fort Gibson Lake every chance he could.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Walton Steele and Virginia "Doris" Steele, who taught him his great love of the outdoors.
He is survived by his sister, Pamela S. Bonwell, and her husband, John, of Broken Arrow; ex-wife, Sandra J. Steele of Tulsa; Daughter, Amanda J. Steele of Tulsa; son, Jonathan E. Steele of Broken Arrow; daughter, Rita J. Conway and her husband, Allen, of Broken Arrow; granddaughter, Amber E. O'Neal and her husband, Garret, of Chouteau; granddaughter, Jessica L. Steele and her husband, Nick, of Tulsa; grandson, Austin J. Mabes of Sand Springs; granddaughter, Lauren E. Donaldson and her husband, Justus, of Inola; granddaughter, Ellaina J. Cowning and her husband, Jacob, of Broken Arrow; granddaughter, Isabella J. Harding of Tulsa; as well as 3 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, 1 nephew, and numerous cousins and friends of whom he loved.
Viewing will be held Thursday, July 9th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and services will be held Friday, July 10th, at 12:30 PM, both at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow.
