Jacky "Jack" Allen Burr's Obituary
Jacky (Jack) Allen Burr, 84, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1940, in Porum, Oklahoma, to Alfred Daniel Burr and Addie A. Burr (Blackwood). Jack trusted Christ as his savior at an early age and his faith in God served as the foundation for his life.
Jack married the love of his life, Phyllis Ann Burr (Lasson), and together they built a life filled with adventure and love. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and golf, and he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack and Phyllis embraced the open road, traveling for several years in their motorhome, making memories across the country. He was also an avid sports fan, with a particular love for Oklahoma Sooner football and softball.
Jack proudly served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. In the course of his career he spent two stints in Viet Nam. During this time he earned a Silver Star and three Bronze Stars among many other awards. His dedication and leadership left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.
Through his pursuit of knowledge, Jack earned multiple degrees. These included bachelors degrees from the University of Oklahoma, and Baptist Bible College, and a masters degree from the University of Missouri.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis; his children, Richard Allen Burr (Susan), Randall Scott Burr (Donna), and Cynthia Gail Ferrell (Ben); his sister, Brenda Christian (Bob); seven grandchildren—Cynthia, Melissa, Kimberly, Evan, Mike, Bethany, and Vanessa; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Calvin Leo Burr and Alfreda Kaye Christian.
Jack will be remembered for his unwavering love of God, his family, and his Country. He leaves behind a legacy of service, wisdom, and warmth that will be treasured forever.
A public viewing will take place at the Floral Haven Visitation Suites on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, from 3:00-6:00PM. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, followed by graveside services at the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Veteran's Field of Honor. Army Honor Guard will be performing military honors at the graveside services, and there will be a dove release.
