Jacob Wayne DeCorte's Obituary
Jacob Wayne DeCorte, age 31, passed from this life on April 13, 2026, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He entered the world on December 4, 1994, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, beginning a life marked by curiosity, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the beauty around him. He was the beloved son of John DeCorte and Leticia (Castro) DeCorte, who nurtured the gentle spirit that so many came to love.
Jacob found joy in the simple, grounding moments of life. He loved cats, the outdoors, laughing, smiling, and being around the ones he loved. He was happiest outdoors kayaking across waters usually with his girlfriend Jocelyn and his dog Hazel right by his side. Jacob’s happiness was also fulfilled by exploring nature and embracing the peaceful feeling it gave him. The outdoors didn’t just inspire him; it centered him, giving him a sense of connection and clarity that he carried into every part of his life.
Jacob was blessed to experience an encounter with God that was life altering to him. From that encounter on, his faith was a guiding force and helped shape him moving forward. Above all, Jacob cherished his family. He held them close in his heart, and his loyalty and affection were constant. He loved spending time with his siblings and always enjoyed making others laugh. Jacob always enjoyed spending time with his best friend Landon, the two could do anything together and would find a way to make it the best times. He loved playing video games with his brother-in-law Julien and really loved being able to beat Julien at any and every game he could. He had an amazing sense of humor, was easy to talk to, and was someone that made others feel comfortable.
Jacob’s legacy lives on in the memories he created the laughter he shared, and the love he gave freely. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will continue to echo into the lives of those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers Michael S. DeCorte and Roberto Castro; and his uncles Alfred Ray Castro and David Castro. Left to cherish Jacobs memory are his parents John and Leticia DeCorte; siblings Michael Lopez and his partner Tori Rondot, Shari Sherman-DeCorte and her husband Julien Sherman, and Gabriella DeCorte; grandmothers Cheryl DeCorte and Deanna Long; uncle Mike DeCorte; aunt April Johnson and her husband Drew Johnson; girlfriend Jocelyn Stalnaker; best friend Landon; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
