James Lee Berry's Obituary
James Lee Berry, better known as JB, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, December 13, 2019 with his wife of 51 years by his side. James was surrounded by love in friendship in the days leading up to his passing. James grew up in Henryetta, OK and moved to Tulsa after attending Northeastern State University. He found the love of his life, Sherry Berry, and married her not once, twice, but three times to show her how much he LOVED her. Shortly after marrying, he proudly served in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam. James began his career as a District Manager at Winchell’s and took a leap of faith adventuring into building his own Donut businesses, opening his first JB’s Donuts near 21st and 129th in Tulsa, OK. With the help of his family, he expanded his business with the opening of the 2nd shop in Coweta, OK and then opening another in Wagoner, OK. He was known for his sausage rolls and teaching his children the importance of business and work ethic. James was known by many as “Coach” and spent many years developing his son’s and daughter’s soccer and basketball teams. He loved sports of all kinds, watching westerns, taking road trips to explore the country and critique the food, and going anywhere with Sherry by his side. James was a member of the Masonic Lodge and demonstrated throughout his life the core values of service and others before self. To his family he will always be known for his adventurous spirit and as an adoring husband, caring father, and the BEST Peepaw.James was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony Welch and is survived by his wife Sherry Berry, his four children, Vicki Wolfe, Carolyn Berry, Jason Berry, and Michelle Berry; his four grandchildren, Felecia Smith, Chase Hargrove, Mallory Berry, and Rylan Berry; his great grandson, Brentley Hargrove and great granddaughter, Kaylan Buggs.A graveside Military Honor Service will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, December 20, 2019 at Floral Haven Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Association https://donate3.canncer.org.
