To the Williams family, "Beauty" was a little younger than me, so, I never had the privilege of playing with him, but did play with A.Y. and loved every minute of it. What I remember the most and my fondest memories of him were when I would come to Clinton to play in the "Annual Lettermen's Club Golf Tournament." Beauty never played golf, but, he always came and drove a golf cart and followed our golf group around. Most of us were older than Beauty, but, it didn't matter, we loved having him around. Our group had guys like Mart Tisdal, F.A. Sewell, Terry Carter, and as the years went by, many, many more. We all got such a "kick" out of Beauty. I used to tease Beauty and Roy Bell, as time went by, that they were the best "pulling guards" ever to play at CHS, as through the years their size increased a bit. We were so saddened to read about the death of James. We were privileged enough to be a part of CHS when he was a member of the Red Tornadoes . He was so fun to watch play football week after week. Benjie was number 63 on the team, but he would be the first to tell you that he didn't get to play much because of the talented guys like James!!. I remember James Williams aka "Beauty" as the best all-around football player on our Clinton team. He was as good on defense as he was on offence. I met him when we were in the fourth grade at Clinton and was there that year when he acquired his nickname. I know the true story. We played ball together every year thereafter through our Oklahoma State University experience. He was my true brother. I love you, James. You will live in my heart forever. James C. Williams was the finest fullback this state ever produced. James was First-Team High School All-American and Oklahoma Player-of-the-Year from Clinton in the Fall of 1968. He was the mainstay of the Clinton Red Tornado's undefeated State Champions for two years in the Falls of 1967 and 1968. He was a wonderful soul and a good person. We knew him well. We loved him. We shall miss him. His High School Football Coach Jim Frazier and wife Sallie.
