James Wayne Ford's Obituary
James Wayne Ford, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014. He was 67 years old. Jim was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on November 3, 1946 to Herbert and Mary Jo Ford. Both parents and his brother, Jack E. Ford preceded him in death. Jim graduated from McClain High School in 1965 and attended Okmulgee Tech. After graduation Jim was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam. Jim began his 35 plus year career with Public Service Company of Oklahoma upon his return from service. There he met his wife of 31 years, Joella Basolo. Jim and Joella had two daughters JaneAnn Greene and Emily Ford, both of Edmond, OK. Jim briefly retired in 2003 only to pick back up with many familiar faces at Direct Energy. He enjoyed arriving extra early to make the coffee and harass his friends. Jim was active in the girls’ extracurricular activities; he coached both girls in soccer and softball. He attended countless Verdigris sporting events and was a proud Cardinal supporter. If someone was winning and someone was losing, Jim was watching! He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend. He had a cheerful disposition, always smiling with an infectious laugh that he shared freely. His family and friends will be forever grateful for the gift that was his life.Visitation begins 10:00 AM ~ 8:00 PM, with the family greeting friends 6:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2014.A Celebration of James’ life will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Red Cross, www.redcross.org or the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
