James Elmer Freeman's Obituary
James Elmer Freeman was born on February 14th, 1933 in Nauvoo, Missouri to Henry and Frances (Sharpe) Freeman. He passed away on September 13, 2012 at St Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK, at the age of 79. James graduated from Blue Eye High School in southern Missouri in 1950 as president of his senior class. Following graduation, he attended Southwestern Missouri State College, worked in Kansas, and was later drafted in the U.S. army where he served approximately 2 years. He then worked for a short period at Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, OK. On August 28, 1955, he married Mary Margaret Bonham, whom he had grown up with since birth. In 1963, they had one daughter, Judith Ann. In 1956, James joined the U. S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, and retired in 1989 after 33 years of service. James became a follower of Christ on 2-26-2001. He was an active member and usher at Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa and a member of the Bible Prophecy Study of Tulsa. James was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his wife Mary Margaret, of the home, his daughter, Judith Ann Carley and husband Mark, two grandchildren, Joshua T. Carley and Brittany L. Carley of Sugar Land, TX; brothers, George Freeman & wife Ruth of Tulsa, OK, Jack Freeman & wife Linda of Claremore, OK, Joe Freeman & wife Becky of Springfield, MO; and sister, Dorothy Berg of El Centro, CA; and several nieces and nephews and many close friends too numerous to count. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, Sept 17, 2012 at Eastwood Baptist Church, Tulsa, OK with Pastor Gordon Small officiating. Interment will follow at the Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow, OK. Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 9 PM, Sunday with family greeting friends from 3-5 PM at Floral Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastwood Baptist Church, 949 So. 91st E. Ave. Tulsa, OK. 74112.
