James "Jim" Henry Barnes' Obituary
James “Jim” Henry Barnes, born Saturday, October 9, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to loving parents Donald Lee Barnes and Edith G. Ward; went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his loving wife by his side. James, better known as “Jim” or “Grumpy” by his family and friends; is a Tulsa native and after serving his country honorably and proudly in the United States Navy. Jim returned to Tulsa and followed his passion as a mechanic and his love of corvettes; becoming the successful owner of Corvette’s of Tulsa; and becoming a member of the “Tulsa Vette Set”, the “National Council Corvette Clubs” and the “Competition Corvettes of Oklahoma” for many years. In Jim’s free time he was an avid college football fan, not selecting a side and being a supportive fan of both Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University; as well an avid fan of NASCAR, following his favorite drivers; Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. But what Jim was truly passionate about was the times shared with his beloved wife and all his loving family members and friends; Jim will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Jim is preceded in death by his loving parents Donald Lee Barnes and Edith G. Ward and three sisters. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of three years, Carol Jean Barnes; Jim is also survived by two daughters, one grandchild, three step children, one step son-in-law, one step daughter-in-law, five step grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 3:00pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home in the Chapel. A graveside service will follow at a later date at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
