James Douglas Kimbrough's Obituary
James Douglas 'Doug' Kimbrough, 53, passed away January 21, 2012 at his home. He was born June 1, 1958 in Midland, TX to Neely and Barbara Kimbrough, then moved to Broken Arrow, OK as a child, where he grew up. Doug was a graduate of Broken Arrow High School, and went on to study at the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with honors and received his bachelor's degree in finance. While in college, he spent his summers working as a Teller in his family's business, Arkansas Valley State Bank. After graduation, in 1981, Doug returned to the bank to begin his career as a Loan Officer. In 1990, he was promoted to President of the bank, and then named CEO and Chairman of the Board in 1996. He retired in 2001. Doug was gentle and artistic and enjoyed gardening, cooking, photography and metal crafts. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed making them personal, thoughtful gifts from his heart. He especially loved spending time with all of the children in the family and captured some of the most beautifully honest photographs of them at family events. Doug is survived by his father, Neely Kimbrough; and mother, Barbara Kimbrough both of Broken Arrow. He also leaves his two sisters, Kelley Rash of Broken Arrow and Sally Wilton of Choctaw, as well as a host of loving extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 3rd at the 1st United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow. Arrangements are being made by Floral Haven in Broken Arrow.
