James Reed King's Obituary
James Reed King 71 of Tulsa, Oklahoma died October 14, 2021. He was born March 1, 1950 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Doil James King and Rebecca Reed King.
Jim grew up and attended school in Lindsay, Oklahoma, attending college on a football scholarship at Tulsa University graduating in 1972 with a degree in finance.
Jim worked in the cement industry in Tulsa, Pryor, New Orleans LA, Peru IL, and Festus MO, as maintenance manger and plant manger, until retirement in 2013. Shortly after retirement he returned to live in Tulsa.
Jim was a active member of Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. His priorities were God, family, and serving others. He enjoyed working with youth, always offering gentle guidance.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, reading, his church and spending time with those he loved. A sport enthusiast and armchair coach who enjoyed life with laughter.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Doil and Rebecca King, Faye King and a grandson Ian Reiff.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife of 25 years, Carolyn, his children Bernadette and Tom Adelson, Tulsa, OK; Jeremy and Tara King, Prosper TX; Rebekah Shaw, Broken Arrow OK; Steve and Judy Highfill, Coweta OK; Kimberly Parks, Pine CO. Twelve grandchildren Savannah, Courtney, Mitchell, Tucker, Mason, Trey, Emma, Aiden, Jackson, Jacob, Noah, Alyssa, a great granddaughter Abigail, his sister Barbara Porter and husband Robert, along with many extended family members.
James is preceded in death by his father: Doil King; his mother: Rebecca King; his stepmother: Faye King; and his grandson: Ian Reiff.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in the Floral Haven Rose Chapel, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. For those who cannot make it to the service are able to watch on livestream at:
