James Minton Sr.'s Obituary
James Edward Minton, Sr., 78, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, passed away March 1, 2019 in Tulsa, surrounded by his family. He was born September 16, 1940 in Tulsa to John Robert and Leah Minton. James married Billie June Ratliff in Pawnee, Oklahoma on December 7, 1964.James, or Jimmy to his family and friends, was a member of the Garden Heights Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, driving his tractor, watching westerns, and spending time with his family and friends. Jimmy served seven years with the Oklahoma National Guard.Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leah Minton; seven brothers Bobbie Minton, Donald Ray Minton, Kenneth Minton, Richard Minton, Mike Minton, Terry Minton, and Ronnie Minton; one sister Flossie Scroggins; and one great granddaughter Casey Lee Marshall.Jimmy is survived by his wife Billie June Minton; three brothers Jerry and wife Betty Minton of Sperry; Jackie and wife Atonda Minton of Kellyville, and Virgil Minton of Yukon; two sons Eddie and wife Vickie Minton of Skiatook, Tommy and wife Delaina Minton of Keifer; three daughters Vonda and husband Micky Thompson of Sapulpa, Melissa and husband Greg Monkress of Skiatook, and Christy Minton of Skiatook; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephewsVisitation will be on Sunday, March 3, from 1 pm – 7 pm.Funeral services will be at 12:30 pm on Monday, March 4 at Floral Haven Chapel.
