James Terry Nelson's Obituary
James Terry Nelson, 46, of Owasso, Oklahoma passed away on November 4, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa surrounded by his family. He was born August 5, 1975 in Birmingham, Alabama to Rozanne Cherry and Rick Nelson. He enjoyed life and was a dedicated husband, father and friend to many in the Tulsa area. He always had a kind word and open heart for everyone.
He is preceded in death by his grandmothers Gladys Massey and Jean Roegner, grandfather Theodore Nelson II, and his mother-in-law Marlyn Castleberry and father-in-law Glen Castleberry. Terry is survived by his wife Sonia Nelson, his daughter Ashley Castleberry, and his son Dalton Withrow. He has a large extended family who cared for him a great deal including his parents, his stepfather Paul Cherry, his grandfather Walter Joe Lee Massey, sister Candi Turner and her husband Nathan Turner and nephew Ellis Turner, sister Reagan Nelson, brother Graham Nelson, brother-in-law David Castleberry, sister-in-law Donna Castleberry and many adoring aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
Terry was passionate about his work and really enjoyed his work family at Mill Creek Lumber and the loyal customers with whom he spent a great deal of time. His life-long friendships with coworkers and customers brought him a great sense of community and satisfaction and he was well respected in his field.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Floral Haven funeral home in the chapel at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 with private family interment to follow at the cemetery there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Kidney Fund (www.kindneyfund.org) or a local charity of your choice.
