James "Paul" Cox's Obituary
James P. 'Paul' Cox, 83, of Tulsa, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at St. Francis hospital. Paul was a resident of University Village of Tulsa and a member of the church of the Nazarene. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. at University Village, Tulsa. Paul was born December 27, 1927 in Keota, Oklahoma, the son of William Ernest and Blanche Cox. Raised in Stigler, he graduated from Stigler Senior High School in 1946. After post-war U.S. Army service, he attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, and Northeastern State Teacher's College in Tahlequah. While at college, Paul met the love of his life, Thelma Jo Keese, in Muskogee. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in August, 2010. After leaving college, Paul began a 37-year oil-field career with Halliburton Oil Well Company, now known as Halliburton. During his career with Halliburton, Paul and his family moved frequently, living in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kentucky and Ohio, with a two-year out of country assignment in Argentina. After he retired from Halliburton, Paul and Jo moved from Wooster, Ohio to Quinton, Oklahoma to be near family. Many of the following years were shared between Quinton and Okeechobee, Florida and later Glenpool and Tulsa.. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Cox and their two children, Carson Cox, wife Corazon, of Memphis, TN and Sally Mueller, husband John, of Tulsa; brother Howard Cox of Haskell, sister Mildred Norris of Tulsa, three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
