James Thomas Pickard, "Sonny Boy"

James Thomas Pickard, lovingly known as “Sonny Boy,” passed away at the age of 95. He was born at home southeast of Keefton, Oklahoma, and grew up in Council Hill, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Council Hill High School in 1948. He later attended Connors State Agricultural College in Warner, Oklahoma.
Sonny Boy lived a life full of hard work and adventure. A proud truck driver by trade, he spent decades on the open road and truly had “been everywhere.” He retired in 1992 from Chemical Express in New Braunfels, Texas, after a long and dedicated career.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of travel, and the countless stories from his years behind the wheel. His legacy lives on in the hearts of family and friends who cherished his humor, wisdom, and resilience.
