Jim Rader was a man of great character and integrity. I worked for “Chief” when I started with ODOT and he was the Survey Crew Chief. Chief had a great way of discussing issues about life lessons, without you ever knowing it. He always took the high road and while others may gossip, Chief always said he only had time for positive things in his life. I will say he helped me learn and entrusted me with increased responsibility that allowed growth. He worked the crew hard, but always had a sense of humor. We played many a game of spades or “spizzers” during lunch that always led to great debate and humor. Chief always said God and family were his concerns and he would not allow conflict to get in his way of these priorities. While I always admired the man I worked for, it was when I became older that I appreciated the person he was and the life he lead. I hope my children will be so fortunate to have someone like the Chief in their lives. Thank you Chief, may you find peace in God’s Kingdom…
