James Eugene Reed's Obituary
Jim served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He piloted the B-29 as Airplane Commander and also flew 30-40 other plane types- American, British, and Canadian. He served in the 20th Air Force in the South Pacific. In 1946 he married Bettyjo Evans and they shared 52 years together before her passing in 1998. Jim earned a degree in Physics in 1949 from the University of Michigan and worked for Dow Chemical Company for 35 years. He was an Elder on the Session at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Tulsa. He also was was very active with Totem Pole Park in Foyil, OK and the Rogers County Historical Society. Working outdoors and helping others was a special joy for him. His active later life included property maintenance at his church, ranch work, and continuing restoration at Totem Park. Services were held on Monday, December 15, 2003 in the Floral Haven Funeral Home ChapelSurvived By: daughters, Debbie Conklin of Tulsa and Kathy Utecht of Dallas, sons-in-law, James and Tom, grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, and Chris, and grandson-in-law, Judd Fisher.
