James "Jim" Samuel Young's Obituary
James (Jim) Samuel Young passed away in Tulsa Oklahoma, December 12, 2016. Jim was born January 6, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the seventh child of eight children of Samuel P. and Ollie B. Young. Jim graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1949 where he made many dear lifelong friends. Jim attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) on a basketball scholarship graduating in 1953 earning a B.S. in Commerce and then served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. After leaving the Air Force Jim worked seventeen years as a Landman for Sun Oil Company and 5 years as Land Department Manager with Kewanee Oil & Gas. Jim left Kewanee in 1984 and formed his oil and gas company, JAY Energy, Inc., retiring in 2015. Jim married Janis A. Jordan on April 6, 1974 who had two sons, Gary Jordan and Mark Jordan. By a previous marriage to Clippie Joe Bowlin Jim had a daughter, Clippie Ann Colon and a son, James (Jimmy) Young. Jim is survived by his wife Janis of the home; daughter Clippe Colon and husband Carlos Colon, son Jimmy Young and wife Angie Young; stepson Gary Jordan; sister Ruby Cummings and brother Owen Young; four grandchildren, Alex Delaney, Olivia and Ava Young, Jeffrey Jordan and one great-grandson Gavin Jordan, along with numerous family and close friends. Jim also leaves behind his beloved bichon, Muffin. Services for Jim will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 12:30 p.m., at Floral Haven Funeral Home, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Jim kept this quote in his hand writing as a reminder, “God puts us all in each other’s life to impact one another in some way.” Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Tulsa Oklahoma missions department in memory of Jim Young.
