James Harvey Smith's Obituary
Smith, James Harvey, age 87, a native Oklahoman, died May 7, 2011. Born in Pryor, OK November 11, 1923, the son of James C. and Una Marie Smith. A 1941 graduate of Central High School and a WWII veteran. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in China, Burma, India theatre, receiving numerous medals and commendations. After completing military duty, he returned to college and obtained his B.S. from Northeastern Oklahoma State University in 1949. Pursuing graduate studies at Oklahoma State University in Microbiology. Entered the employ of Pfizer Laboratories in 1950 and retired in 1971 to become General Manager of Tri-County Pharmaceutical Corporation. Was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Maxine Chandler Smith, sister Sandra and son Christopher. Survivors include; sisters Nancy Ray and Maurine Sykes of Tulsa, son James and his wife Peggy of Broken Arrow, grandchildren Stephanie, Krystle and Devin and great grandchildren Madison, Austyn and Baylee. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Peters and St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church. Services will be held Wednesday May 11th at 3:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home 6500 South 129th East Ave. Broken Arrow. Reception immediately following in the Family Center
