James Thomas Thompson's Obituary
James Thomas Thompson, age 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma earned his wings on Thursday, December 14, 2017 in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. Born on February 8, 1937 in Poteau, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Willis Nunley Thompson and Ruby McCormick Thompson.James, known to most as JT, was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle; doting grandpa and great-grandpa. He was also a jack of all trades. He spent most of his working years as a manufacturer by day and a security guard by night. In a small town in Oklahoma, he met his beautiful bride, Wanda (Parnell) Thompson. JT and Wanda wed on December 23, 1955 in Hilltown, Oklahoma. They have been together for 63 years and have 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.JT enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog Ziggy. He loved working, watching baseball particularly his Texas Rangers, playing golf, fishing, the outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and new great grandchildren.JT is survived by his wife, Wanda Jean Thompson; daughters, Donna Mack and Sherry McDaniel; grandchildren Natasha Hicks, Courtnie (Quentin) Chaney, Christopher Hicks, Hilarie (Breion) Garrett and John McDaniel II; great grandchildren, Emrie and Rylie Garrett, Bryanne Hicks and Alijah Chaney; sister, Ocie Irene Mabry; brothers, Willis Nunley (Argena) Thompson Jr., Joe C (Debbie) Thompson, Jimmy Wayne (Pauline) Thompson; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and relatives. JT was preceded in death by his parents Willis Nunley Thompson and Ruby McCormick Thompson.A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. JT will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral at the Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
