James "Sam" Treat's Obituary
Sam was born on April 5, 1937 and passed away on January 14, 2021 at the age of 83.
Sam was preceded in death by his father Dewey Treat, his mother Brooks Treat, sisters Jeraldine Treat, Martha Tunnell and his beloved wife Ila Treat.
Sam is survived by his son Kent Treat and wife Marla, daughter Melissa Pierce and husband Randy, son Philip Treat and his wife Krista. Sam is also survived by his children by marriage, Janet Gustafson and husband Dewey, Brian Knotts, Sharon Mattke and husband Paul. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Sam was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After attending school there he joined the Army. Upon leaving the Army remained an active member of the National Guard.
Sam began working for Tastee Bread Company in Muskogee while still serving in the National Guard. After Tastee Bread Company closed he worked for a short time as a welder in Tulsa before going to work for Wonder Bread. He worked for Wonder Bread in Oklahoma City for 20 years and then in Tulsa until his retirement after over 40 years in the industry.
While living in Oklahoma City he was a member of the Del City Church of Christ and then the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow.
Sam spent his last few years living near his children in an assisted living facility in Oklahoma City and then Texas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21 from 4 pm - 6 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place at 12:30 pm on Friday, January 22 at the Floral Haven Chapel.
