James Richard Wamsley's Obituary
James "Jimmy" Wamsley, 80, of Broken Arrow, lost his battle with lung cancer, on the morning of April 24, 2023. His daughter, Megan Wamsley, and his girlfriend, Kay Gillard, were by his side. Jimmy was born August 28th,1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to James and Kathryn Wamsley.
Back in his younger days in West Texas, Jim was a member of the AMBUCS Club and the President of Toast Masters. He was an extraordinary orator, and with that same great adeptness at public speaking, he could deliver a joke like no one else! He liked making people laugh, giving them a hard time, and hoping they would give him a hard time right back. During retirement, he loved working in his yard, planting and identifying types of trees on his daily walks. On the weekends, he honed & perfected (in his daughter's opinion) his BBQ Grill Master skills, smoking ribs, tri-tip, brisket, salmon & scallops. Jim Wamsley loved life, liberty, music, animals & exploration. Jimmy leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. He will sincerely be missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Helen, his brother, Bob, and his parents. Jimmy is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Megan Wamsley and Valerie and Nick Jennings, his two grandsons, Liam and Wyatt, and his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Roger Willis.
