James Monroe Weston's Obituary
James Monroe Weston was born on November 8, 1929, in Joplin, Missouri, to Arthur S. Weston and Mable Smith Weston. James was the youngest of six children. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force at 19 years old in 1948 and served for 3 years and 10 months as a flight engineer on B-17 aircraft, performing Air Sea Rescue in Okinawa, Japan, and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1952.
James returned to Joplin and soon met "his treasure," Ione Henderson, on a blind date. They married in 1953 in Jasper, MO, and beautifully shared over 70 years of marriage. Together, they welcomed two sons, Curtis James and Michael Jay. James and Ione loved to travel, taking many trips across the globe. They were also members of First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow.
James worked for several companies in Joplin before moving his family to Tulsa and later to Broken Arrow, OK. He began working for The NORDAM Group in 1972 as an inspector and later became the Quality Manager. He retired from NORDAM after 28 years, in 2000.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur S. Weston and Mable Weston; his wife, Ione Henderson Weston; his sons, Curtis James Weston and Michael Jay Weston; his brothers, Clyde, Cecil, Jude, and Floyd Weston; and his sister, Willa Lee.
