James Shelby Whittle's Obituary
James Whittle, age 84, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024. Born on June 14, 1940, in Jamestown, Kentucky, to Carl and Mary Whittle, James led a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for family, hobbies, and helping others. James was a man of many talents. Whether it was fixing anything with or without an engine or spending hours rebuilding cars as a hobby, his skills were unmatched. He was a fan of NASCAR, enjoyed lake trips with his family, and found great joy in attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, always supporting them with pride and enthusiasm.
Faith was a cornerstone of James's life. He served His Lord faithfully at Forest Ridge Baptist Church. His witty sense of humor brought light to any room, and his family cherished the countless memories of his laughter and playful banter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Judy. They celebrated 60+ years of marriage, 3 children, and 3 beloved grandsons. He is also preceded in death by his parents Carl and Mary Whittle; and his siblings Lila Goodin, Don Whittle, Anita Sturgill, Sandra Whittle.
James is survived by his children, Jimmy Whittle and wife Molly, Joe Whittle and wife Susan, and Jackie Hughes and husband Barry; and sister Judy Whittle; his grandchildren, Braden Knox and wife Alix, Sawyer Knox, and Parker Whittle; and a host of friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of James’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Forest Ridge Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, where family and friends are invited to honor his memory and the legacy of love, humor, and devotion to those he leaves behind.
