Jane Ardis Nixon's Obituary
Jane Ardis Nixon passed away March 5, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at St. Francis Hospice in Tulsa, OK.Born March 8, 1932 to Harold and Lyllian (Grimes) Mountain in Minneapolis, KS. Jane graduated from Ada High School in 1950. She met her husband, Jerry, at Ft Hays State College in their freshman year. Jerry went into the Air force during the Korean War and they were married in 1953, while he was in the service. Upon his discharge, they returned to school to finish their education. Jane graduated from Kansas State University in 1959 with a BS in Elementary Education. She taught 3rd grade in Ada, KS and North Kansas City, MO. She also worked at Sherman’s Hallmark at The Farm Shopping center for many years.Jane was a long time resident of Tulsa following their move here in 1976. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Bible Walk Sunday School class where she enjoyed many friendships.Jane loved cooking, cross word puzzles and cross stitch. She was an avid fan of football, car racing and horse racing. She was a strong, beautiful woman that lovingly guided her sons, their wives and her grandchildren. Her kind smile, warm touch, and constant love and support will be deeply missed.Jane was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Lyllian Mountain and a brother-in-law, Harland Hoffman.She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Nixon; son Mark Douglas and wife Debbie of Clearwater Beach, FL; son James Gregory and wife Angela of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren – Joshua, Kathryn, Abigail and Reagan; and her sister Janis Hoffman of Grand Prairie, TX.A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. with Dr. James Miller presiding.
