Janet Sue Davidson's Obituary
It is with extreme sorrow that we report the passing of our beloved wife, mother and
grandmother Janet Sue Davidson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma who passed away at home on September 7, 2025, after fighting a brief illness. She was 82. She stubbornly and bravely survived endometrial cancer, thyroid cancer, and breast cancer but eventually succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Janet was born on January 4, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri, to the late Garnet Estella Hutsell Baker and Edwin Coleman Baker also of Springfield. She married Kenneth James Davidson on October 24, 1969, and this October would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Janet accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of nine at East Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield. She attended Bowman Elementary, Reed Junior High, and graduated from Parkview High School in 1961. Janet, Ken and their children moved to Oklahoma in late 1977 and settled in Broken Arrow. Janet had many occupations in her life including working for Family Loan in Springfield for 12 years and was the first Businesswomen’s Loan Manager in Springfield. Once in Oklahoma she worked as a teacher’s aide at Kirk of the Hills in Tulsa, worked several years for Union Public Schools in Elementary Food Service at Peters and Darnaby, worked a few years as a Customer Service Manager at Venture Stores, and volunteered from 2001 to
2011 for Saint Francis Hospice in Tulsa. In 2004 she was awarded the Virginia Staples
Memorial Volunteer of the year for the state of Oklahoma and the Govenor’s
Commendation Award from Govenor Brad Henry of which both she was very humbled and proud. She found joy and purpose as a volunteer.
Janet was a devout Christian and had attended Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the movies and out to dinner (with an occasional glass of Berringer’s white zinfandel), seeing a musical and the theatre, and attending many arts and crafts shows. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved helping raise her granddaughter Kai, was dedicated, compassionate, kind, thoughtful and hardworking. She will be remembered for her strength, grace, and unconditional love as well as her contagious laugh. She faced challenges with quiet dignity and celebrated joys
with genuine, heartfelt enthusiasm. She was a devoted and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will be forever cherished by family and friends. She touched the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers-in-law Jess Meadows and Bob Davidson. She is survived by her loving husband Ken, daughter Melissa K Davidson of Broken Arrow, son and daughter-in-law Michael S Davidson and Kris Davidson of Raymore, Mo, beloved granddaughter Kai Davidson also of Raymore, sister Marcia Meadows of Springfield, and nephew James Meadows of Springfield and sister-in-law Carlene Davidson also of Springfield.
