Janet Virginia Peterson's Obituary
Janet Virginia Peterson passed from this life on May 19, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Janet was born June 7, 1934 in New York Mills, New York to Jacob and Sophie (Babiarz) Niziol.
To mom, her family meant, and was, everything to her. She worked tirelessly to create a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. She was the heart and cornerstone of our family. Leading with love, even when life wasn’t easy and providing a foundation built on honor, courage, and the strength to keep going no matter what.
Always giving, never wanting for herself. She had a way of making everyone feel at home and always welcomed. She loved all that entered and was the mother all our friends wished they had.
Anyone that knew mom knew she was always cooking or baking something, it was her love language. Mom and food were synonymous because as soon as you entered the house, she was tirelessly asking if you were hungry and she remembered everyone's favorite meal or dessert, always making sure she fixed it when you visited. It was always about her family and doing what made them happy.
She will always be with us in the lessons she taught and the values instilled.
Thank you for sacrifice, lessons we did not know we needed, and every ounce of your love.
The legacy she leaves behind is her children, John Peterson, Jim Peterson, Tom Peterson, Debby Jones, Chris Hanshaw, and Rick Peterson; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Jackie Terchowitz; and brother, Jacob Niziol.
Rest well, our dear mother, together again with the love of your life.
A Memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
