In Loving Memory of Janet Lynne Sells
Janet Lynne Sells, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at a Tulsa hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 16, 1943, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to her parents, Geraldine and Duffy Davis. On September 4, 1964, she exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Phillip Lloyd Sells, in a beautiful ceremony in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Together, they shared a journey of love, family, and shared dreams for nearly six decades.
Janet dedicated her life to education, instilling knowledge, curiosity, and a love for science in the hearts of countless students. She taught science at various levels, from Mid High School to High School, leaving an indelible mark on the educational communities of Norman, Oklahoma; Moore, Oklahoma; Ramona, Oklahoma; and Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Janet was a source of inspiration for her students and colleagues alike, and her passion for teaching will always be remembered.
Janet achieved her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and the pursuit of knowledge.
Above all, Janet was a warm-hearted and compassionate woman who cared deeply for her family. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them. In an act of immense love and dedication, Janet also raised her two beloved grandchildren, Morgan and Ethan, providing them with a nurturing and loving home.
Janet Lynne Sells is survived by her devoted husband, Phillip Sells of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her son, Mark Sells and his wife Leah of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Morgan Cooper and her husband Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ethan Winkelmann of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Jordan Bosco and his wife Gabi of Beavercreek, Ohio. She also leaves behind her five cherished great-grandchildren: MacKenzie, Madison, Mark, Millie, and Macy.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kristi Winkelmann, along with her son-in-law, Mark Winkelmann. While she may have left this world, her memory and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As a family, we will be honoring Janet Lynne Sells in a private ceremony.
Janet Lynne Sells was a woman of extraordinary kindness, a dedicated teacher, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will shine on in our hearts as a testament to a life well-lived, a life devoted to family and the pursuit of knowledge. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
