Janice Pauline Bright's Obituary
Janice Pauline Green Bright took her last breath on January 30th, 2014 at Cimarron Pointe Care Center in Mannford, Oklahoma. She was born to George and Beulah Weiherer Green on August 1st, 1925 in Phillipsburg, Missouri. A precocious child, she learned to read by the age of 4 and received a library card the same year. She knew her multiplication tables at the age of 6. She just couldn’t stand the idea of her older brother getting to do something she couldn’t do. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 12 and was a member of Belview Baptist Church in Tulsa. She received her early education in Phillipsburg, Missouri and graduated from Daniel Webster High School in Tulsa in 1943. She would tell everyone that she was in the chorus with Patty Page. In 1944, she began working on B-24 bombers at Douglas Aircraft and there she met Kenneth Bright. They were married on June 23, 1945 and to this union 4 children were born. She had 27 years of smiles working at Humpty Dumpty supermarkets staying with them until they closed their doors. She was cashier, district cashier trainer and then district secretary. Then, oh my, she worked for Anthony’s with their wonderful employee discount for 5 years and her clothes closets proved it. At the nursing home, she soon took the nickname of Sunshine because of her smile and her last name, but to her grandchildren, she was always Mama Jan. She is survived by her ex-husband Kenneth, her children Anita (Larry) Lake, Darlene Horn, Linda (Darryl) Roberts and Jon (Lori) Bright; 6 grandchildren Jim (Rachel) Lake, Bob (Melissa) Lake, Dan (Nicole) Lake, Mike (Michele) Horn, Terry (Tammi) Bright and Marissa Anderson; 10 great grandchildren Kris and Brian Lake, Chelsea Howerton, Ted, Logan and Morgan Lake, Ella and Jack Horn, Joshua Ellis and Halle Bright, 2 great great grandchildren, Aurora and EastonRay Howerton; her sister-in-law, Dixie Green and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rev. George Green and grandchildren Larry Lake, Jr. and Tracy Yingst. Burial will be in Floral Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Cleveland Area Community Food Pantry: 200 N Gilbert Ave, Cleveland, Oklahoma 74063 ~ 918-906-9609
