Jean Johnson's Obituary
Jean Johnson, a beloved wife, mother, and a gracious woman who touched the lives of many. She passed on July 14, 2023 into the presence of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, leaving family and friends with cherished memories and a legacy. She was 84 years old.
Born on August 17, 1938, in Sand Springs, OK, Jean was the daughter of Jess Bacon and Ola (Catron) Bacon an unexpected twin to her sister Joan and the last of 12 children. From an early age, she exhibited a zest for life that would carry her through the years.
In High School, She told Bob “no” when he asked for her phone number, so he opened the high school directory and there it was. On June 7, 1957, after graduation Jean finally said “yes” and married Robert Vernon Johnson, the love of her life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together, they embarked on a worldwide journey filled with love, adventure, and a deep commitment to family.
Jean was a military wife, supporting Bob throughout his career. She lived the life of a military spouse with dedication and faithfulness, always there for Bob and their 4 sons and doing so with grace and dignity. Jean’s infectious smile and kind spirit were evident throughout her life. This Oklahoma girl had caught a “tiger by the tail” in Bob and was often heard yelling “Bob…!” as her fun-loving husband was always up to something, and she just held on for the ride.
She found happiness in lots of places, including Bob’s adventures while serving in the US Air Force, and with her son’s many sporting events, enjoying her grandchildren, and spending time with her loving church family. Her kindness and storytelling were a source of joy to all who knew her.
Jean enjoyed the traveling season of her life, which gave her the opportunity to explore the world. But one of her greatest joys was coming “home” to her childhood home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She continued supporting Bob in his work and many volunteering activities and enjoyed her family & friends, bingo and her church family.
While we mourn the loss of this warm and caring woman, we also celebrate the beautiful memories and her joy filled eternity with her savior. Because she put her trust in Jesus’ finished work on the cross, she’s now with The Savior in heaven, and her legacy will continue to inspire us. Jean Johnson will be missed, but not forgotten.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Bob, son Michael Ray, son Stephen Robert and wife Shelley, son David Richard and wife Lydia, son Timothy Wayne and wife Kellie Pendleton, her twin sister Joan Harrison, her great niece Sheila Winford, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends and loved ones.
