Jeanette Barlow's Obituary
Jeanette Irene Barlow (née Morrow), age 69, of Tulsa, OK and Columbia, MO, passed away peacefully in her home on June 25, 2020 in Tulsa, just shy of her 70th birthday.
Jeanette was born on June 27, 1950 in Columbia, MO to Kenneth and Adelaide Morrow. She graduated from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She married, James Barlow, whom she met in St. Louis, MO, on October 5, 1974 at the Newman Center at the University of Missouri. After moving to Tulsa in June of 1974, Jeanette began working for Shell Oil as a Human Resources Administrator, she also worked for Cotton Petroleum, Ramco, and First Data Corporation throughout her long career in HR. In 1980 they welcomed their first child, Nicholas and their second, Jaymie, in 1983. Her children remember her as a very kind, gentle, and nurturing mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Jeanette was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed attending TU basketball games, she also loved to read, and liked taking cruise ship vacations. She absolutely adored anything to do with her kids and grandchildren and loved helping take care of her granddaughters. She appreciated crafting and cross-stitch and she often took Jaymie to the various craft fairs around town to find secret treasures. Although she was not a loud person, she was very compassionate and when she spoke everyone listened because it was very intentional and thoughtful. She was the most caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 45 years, James; her son, Nicholas and wife Cheryl and twin granddaughters, Ellie and Lainey of Tulsa, OK and her daughter Jaymie of Tulsa, OK; her sisters, Joann and husband Pete Hyde of Springfield, MO and Marilyn and husband Pat Oblennis of Columbia, MO; many nephews and nieces; and numerous other relatives and friends.
