Jeannette Mary Savage's Obituary
Our dearest “Méme” passed away at the home of her daughter, on May 25, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. Jeannette Mary Savage, also known as Mémé, a French Canadian shortened version of the French informal mémère, was born on April 09, 1924 in Old Town, Maine. She was the seventh of eleven children born to Edmund Oliver Dupuis and Delina Marie (Damien) Dupuis. They were of French Canadian decent. She married Joseph Vincent Savage from Dedham, Massachusetts on June 26, 1943 in Old Town. Together they had five children. Paul J. Savage, John E. Savage, Ann D. Matthews, Mary E. Ruggiero and Daniel M. Savage. Mémé was very protective and proud of her family. She was a dedicated wife to her husband Joe, who preceded her in death in 1967 and mother of son John E. Savage, who preceded her in death in 1963, and she will now be meeting with her beloved deceased in heaven. She was an extraordinary deeply loving grandmother to Andrea, Craig, Marnie, Shane, Hannah, Wade, Chad, Sammi, Anna. She also has 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren each of whom she totally adores. Mémé also shared a close relationship with her daughters-in-law, Judy Savage and Joyce Savage and sons-in-law Danny Matthews and Ed Ruggiero. As a result of her love for children she babysat many full time and they all became “her children’ and she became their Mémé Due to her undying love for her family and friends she lived a full and joyful life. She had a fun wit and an excellent sense of humor and loved to laugh and kid around. In her later years she was a huge fan of crossword puzzles and other word puzzles. She found them relaxing and educational. She and the rest of the family are eternally grateful for her granddaughter Marnie (and husband) Steve Waller with whom she lived in their loving home for over the past 25 years. Being a strong Christian lady with unwavering belief she read her bible daily and frequently expresses her love for her savior Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of grace, kindness, laughter, friendship, and love that her family will keep alive in our hearts and minds for generations to come.
