Jeffrey Ray Townsend's Obituary
Jeffrey Ray Townsend (Jeff) was the only child born to Bill R. and Barbara (Rusk) Townsend in Tahlequah, OK on December 8, 1966. He attended Tahlequah public schools and graduated from Tahlequah High School in the class of 1985. He went on to attend Northeastern State University (NSU) in Tahlequah, majoring in Healthcare Administration and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1990. He started working in his future career of retail banking while attending NSU. Shortly after graduating college, he relocated to Tulsa, OK where he continued his retail banking career, making many lifelong friends along the way. Jeff was fortunate to be in the position to retire early in 2014 to focus on his family, friends, and hobbies.
Jeff met his future husband, Theirl (TJ) Jarman in December 2006 in Tulsa, OK. They built a wonderful, loving life together and were best friends, soulmates, and devoted dog Dads.
Jeff was a true child of the 1980’s. He had a lifelong love of 80’s music and movies and enjoyed going to concerts, plays, and musicals. As a child, Jeff spent long days with his beloved grandmother, Julia Townsend, where he learned his love of gardening. After retiring, he joined the Tulsa Master Gardener Program through the OSU Extension in Tulsa and became a Master Gardener. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, fishing, and playing with his beloved dogs. Jeff also loved interior decorating, flower arranging, travelling, and shopping.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Bill Townsend. He is survived by his loving husband, Theirl (TJ) Jarman, mother Barbara Townsend, mother-in-law, Katheryn Jarman, sister-in-law Sherri Hamilton and husband Ricky, and a host of cousins.
Jeff died peacefully while holding hands with his loving husband and mother on February 2, 2025 while hospitalized in Tulsa, OK. Throughout his hospitalization he was surrounded by dozens of beloved family and friends.
