Jeri L. Wood's Obituary
Jeri L. Wood, 62, of Tulsa, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. She was born on July 10, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Clinton and Barbara (Goss) Dunlap.Jeri retired after 33 years of teaching from the Broken Arrow School District at Indian Springs Elementary School. She loved her years as an educator, and the children she had the privilege to teach. She was very involved in her Cherokee heritage, had great passion of learning the Cherokee language, and was a community advocate for tribal issues in politics, etc. She was involved in various groups and organizations, which included Goingsnake District Heritage Association, The Association of the Descendants of Nancy Ward, The Oklahoma Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association, The National Trail of Tears Association and Tulsa Cherokee Community Organization.Jeri is survived by her daughter, Amy Henderson, and her husband, Jeremy, of Tulsa, grandchildren, Colton, Malachi, Gabriel, and Dreiman, and a granddaughter on the way, Jori Henderson. Jeri is, also, survived by three sisters, Judy Jordan, and her husband, Chuck, of Tulsa, Jane Maxey, of Tulsa, Jann Sullivan, and her husband, Jon, of Broken Arrow, niece, Melanie Agent, and her husband, Phil, and great nieces, Gracen, and Tori, of Van Buren, Arkansas, nephew, Clint Jordan, and his wife, Amanda, and great nephew, Caden, of Bixby, nephew, Jeff Maxey, and his wife, Madison, and great nephew, Knox, of Tulsa, and numerous other family members and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Steve Spain.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeri’s name to:Turn Tulsa Pink – http://www.turntulsapink.org,American Cancer Society – https://donate.cancer.org,Scleroderma Foundation – http://www.scleroderma.org,Oaks Indian Mission – http://oaksindianmission.org.
