Jerry Rhulen McConnell's Obituary
Jerry Rhulen McConnell, 85, of Tulsa passed away on July 15, 2020, after a brief illness. He was born January 1, 1935, in Maude, Oklahoma, to Hardy and Mildred McConnell. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
He graduated from Wagoner High School, where he was an all- state athlete. He went on to attend the University of Tulsa and graduated in 1957. He participated in ROTC and following graduation he did six months of active duty in the Oklahoma National Guard.
He enjoyed the outdoor life, hunting and fishing. He loved reading historical books, gardening and going on numerous trips with his wife and family. He enjoyed watching any kind of sporting event.
After college he went on to a successful business career, participating in the creation and management of several organizations, and retired from Progressive Supply as a co-owner and controller.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Billie Staggs and Jean Calloway. He is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home, his son Todd McConnell (Erin) of Mission Viejo, California, and their 3 children, Christophe, Shay, Raina. He is also survived by 3 ”bonus” children, Danise Cox, Danny Bell, and David Bell, and their children Austin, Aubrey and Danny, and great-granddaughter Emma.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Jerry’s life at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
