Jerry Dale Nunley's Obituary
Jerry D. Nunley, aka Smiley, aka JerBob, aka JerBear passed away May 14, 2023. He was born in Alameda, California, February 19, 1957. His parents moved in 1967 to the family farm in Oldfield, Missouri. Jerry graduated from Ava Missouri High School in 1976. He was active in AG and had a dairy farm at the same time.
Jerry loved life! His smile and laughter drew in all who met him. He loved to tell stories and end them with, “I can’t make that stuff up! True story” and he would have you laughing. He loved making you laugh.
He had a short career as a bartender. All he knew how to make was a Rum & Coke (That’s what he drank) so that is what you would get and take it and drink it because even then, he had you laughing.
Jerry loved the outdoors so much that he started Smiley’s Lawn Service in 1988. Jerry was an avid outdoors man. He loved Fishing, Hunting, Cooking, and Story telling.
In every spare moment, he loved spending time with his cousin “Cuz” Roger and his brother Ron. When he wasn’t busy watching the fishing reports, they would spend time at the Nunley Hunting Camp and Lodge enjoying the outdoors together.
His son, Brandon spent many trips duck hunting with him on the lake in the “Duckinator” boat, along with Ron and Cuz. Those stories fill many pages with side-splitting laughter.
He is survived by his wife, Leigh Nunley and their four children. Ashley Rogers, Brandon Nunley, Jade Conklin, and Tabitha Janet’. His brother, Ronald Nunley and his two children, Brandy Sprague and Joshua Nunley. His sister, Sherrie Mallonee and her daughter Cheri Butler and her children. His sister, Karen McHaffie and brother, Robert Nunley along with a host of other family and friends.
Ecclesiastes 8:15 - So I recommended rejoicing, because there is nothing better for man under the sun than to eat and drink and rejoice; this should accompany him as he works hard during the days of his life, which the true God gives him under the sun
Isaiah 33:24 – And no resident will say I am sick…………
