Jerry Arthur Shelton's Obituary
Shelton - Jerry Arthur, 93, retired Vice President of Unit Rig/Terex and lifelong resident of Tulsa, died November 15th, 2024. Jerry was born August 5, 1931, to Loy James Shelton of Mt. Erie, Illinois and Grace Tindell Shelton of Terre Haute, Indiana.
He graduated from Tulsa Will Rogers High School in 1949 and attended Oklahoma A&M College and the University of Tulsa. Mr. Shelton married Betty Ann Krafft in 1950. In 1951 he went to work for Unit Rig & Equipment Co. in their Engineering Department as a Trainee Mechanical Draftsmen, where he worked for 14 years raising to the level of Project Engineer. In 1966 he transferred to the Sales Department as Manager of Application Engineering.
For the next 28 years he traveled worldwide and was involved in the sales and service of off-highway mine haulage trucks, visiting over 70 different countries on six different continents. He retired in 1994.
He was proceeded in death by two brothers Robert Loy Shelton of Tulsa and Nylen LeRoy Shelton of Tulsa, and his wife of 53 years Betty Ann Shelton.
Jerry took an active part in the activities of the Will Rogers Class of 1949. He publishes books on the history of both the Krafft and the Shelton families. He was a long-time member of the Eastern Oklahoma Woodcarvers Association. Jerry and his wife traveled to all 50 States and seven countries.
