I didn't know he passed away until Sandy McClung Cross told me this week. I was I Guymon for a funeral. Anyway I was a Band Secretary from 1974-1976, went to the Rose bowl parade. The Memphis cotton festival and others with our award winning band and loved it all. I took private lessons with him for Oboe and played at OSU for two years and did flags at OSU all because of my love for band I stilled by Mr. Toler. So even though I'm late in knowing, I'm very sad! I loved him for all he taught me.Thanks Mr Toler! Donna Kimsey Costner.
I will forever remeber when Mr. Toler and Ms. Bear dressed up like Elf's at Christmas and did their all we want for Christmas speach, and when we dressed up for halloween under our uniforms and revealed them on the field….they were so much fun! I'm sure heaven is a blast!
He was a wonderful teacher! I am so glad he helped me find my music. He made me stretch the limits of what I thought I could do musically. If I listen closely I can hear him playing in Heaven right now. Carol Dunkerson Green
We met Jerry and Ilah on a trip to the Bahamas. If we had not of been miserable and wanting to leave the island a day early, we would never have met them. We rode the taxi back to the port with them, shared dinner, and gambled just a little. Even though they were in Tulsa and we were in North Carolina, distance did not stop us from keeping up with each other. They came to visit us and we visited them. We are much richer peaple for having known Jerry and Ilah. He spoke of his family every time we talked on the phone. He loved you guys so much! I know that only time can help heal the hurt you are feeling right now. Know that we will be there for you if you ever need anything. We love you, we loved him, we will miss him too!!!!

Let me tell you something about this man. Picture a bunch of high school kids from Guymon, Oklahoma at state contest. The piece – Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5, Finale. See these kids playing their hearts out; some of them have tears streaming down their faces. The entire audience is standing well before the music ends. This is his legacy.
I enjoyed working with Jerry. I'll miss his wit and sense of humor. Jim Ziegler-The Music Store
Jerry Toler was a good man, friend, mentor, and an outstanding music educator. I have many great Oklahoma memories that include Jerry. His work with the Medford Band the year we played Jubilant Prelude was a fanastic learning experience for myself and the Medford Band Students that resulted in one of our Best State Band Performances. God Bless All. Thoughts and prayers are with the Toler Family. Donald A. sonny Riley Purcell 74-76 Medford 76-83 Lindsay 83-85 Retired Band Director and Music Educator of 39 years. Retired 2007.
Jerry was a great friend and mentor. I learned a lot from him as I am sure many have. The best pond hopper ever! Jerry, you will be missed!
