Jesse Leroy Smith's Obituary
Pastor Jesse L. Smith was born in Elizabethtown, NC into the family of Ruth and John . He was reborn April 11, 1968 into the family of God. Pastor Smith graduated from high school in North Carolina before serving his country for four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to Milwaukee, WI where he attended college and met his wife, Haile Burkett in December, 1956. They dated for ten months and married October 19, 1957. They were married for 57 years. Pastor Smith was and still is a blessing to many. He asked very little for himself, but gave much to others. He seldom expressed his needs and desires, but expressed the needs and desires of others and tried to fulfill them. He was truly a shepherd of the sheep, a servant for the people, and a man that loved God with all his heart, soul, mind and strength; and he loved his family, relatives and others as himself. He will be greatly missed, but God has made it possible for us to see him again according to His Word (Romans 10:9 and John 14: 1-3) Pastor Smith leaves to follow in his footsteps his daughters, Sonya, Sabrina, and Sonora, son Sean and daughter by marriage Denia, grandchildren David and Simone, sisters-in-law Florence, Sandra and Ethel, brother-in-law Herbert and a host of other relatives and friends. Again you will be greatly missed Pastor Smith but thanks to God it’s only temporary. We’ll see you again.
