Jim Lloyd Gorrell's Obituary
Jim L. Gorrell, 72, of Broken Arrow, passed away October 27, 2020 at his residence with his wife, Bonnie, at his side. He was born June 15, 1948 in Merced, CA to Lloyd William “Pete” and Willie Floy Gorrell. He was a veteran in the U. S. Army’s 82nd Airborne. He was an active member of The Assembly church. Jim never retired in the traditional sense. He continued his work as a mechanical engineer in a variety of industries and individual projects. Jim received a certification to work on industrial controls and utilized those skills as a consultant in his later years. He designed, fabricated and finished out weightlifting equipment for his son’s gym. Most importantly, Jim was ‘daddy’ to daughter Victoria and ‘dad’ to son Jimmy. He was a godly husband, dad and papa to his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Peggy Gorrell, and a brother, Tommy Gorrell. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, daughter and son, brothers, Carroll and his wife Linda and Chuck Gorrell and his wife Margaret. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, November 2nd and 12:30 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK. Interment will follow with military honors. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
