Jimmie Lee Kersey's Obituary
Jimmie Lee Kersey, 80, passed this life with his son and daughter in law by his side on April 17, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jimmie (Jim) was born on March 8, 1943 in Los Angeles, California to Carson Ralph and Elva Maxine (Mickey) Kersey. Jim’s family moved back to the Edmond area in the late 1940’s after his father was discharged from the military. Jim and his sister Carol were raised in a loving home where he enjoyed his mothers cooking and picking on his sister. Jim loved to make people laugh and always made a lasting impression on the people he met.
Jim was raised in Edmond, Oklahoma. After high school graduation he attended Central State University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration, while also in the Army National Guard. He worked in the grocery business in both retail and wholesale for close to 50 years. Jim took great pride in working on product placement for grocery store shelves, he would always laugh and say “if it was there last week and you can’t find it now I’m the guy that moved it” He would then laugh and explain the process and why it was moved. Jim made many great friends in the grocery business.
Jim enjoyed collecting unique and unusual ink pens this was something small that he could collect while he was traveling. He also enjoyed collecting pocket knives. In later years after Jim retired he loved spending time at the Waffle House drinking coffee in the mornings. He also loved spending time at his Son’s house watching the goats on the farm and playing with his Grandchildren.
He is proceed in death by his parents; loving wife, Barbara Kersey and son Kevin Kersey.
He is survived by his son, Kelton Kersey and wife Karen of Cushing, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Samantha Kersey of Cushing, Oklahoma, Derrick and Jaycee Kersey of Fort Belvior, Virginia and Jordan Kersey of Cushing, Oklahoma and Sister Carol Bradley of Eufaula, Oklahoma. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be at 10am on Friday, April 28 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012
