Jimmy L. Myers' Obituary
Jimmy Lorn Myers was born on November 27, 1932 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to parents Emmitt and Ruthie Myers. He was of 1 of 10 siblings. Jimmy was the third oldest of the ten. He married at age 23 to Pauline Woods, age 15, on January 15, 1955. They had 5 children Polly Jane, Jimmy Lorn, Emmitt Daniel, Alyee Elizabeth, Nancy Diane. To support his large family, he worked out in the cotton fields as a cotton picker. He also managed a gas station. He learned paint and body work on cars and sales of automotive paint. After retiring, he enjoyed life fishing, gardening and playing music with his band of 35 years “The American Strings”. He was well known at The Moose and Elk Lodge and VFW of Tulsa and surrounding areas. He happily helped raise 13 granchildren. He enjoyed watching all the activites the children were involved in, including: softball, cheerleading, baseball, football, etc… His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Ranging from oldest to youngest: Lindy Danielle, William Joseph, Kenneth Joseph, Stephen Michael, Aaron Wayne, Amy Eliabeth, Leah Faye, Autumn Elizabeth, Alisha Lynn, Ashley Michelle, Kylie Diane, Shelbie Valine Kyane and Emmitt Daniel and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceeded in death by his oldest daughter Polly Jane, who he was caregiver for, for over 3 years. Due to a brief illness, Jimmy passed on October 29, 2012. He was loved and will be missed by many. He was such a teacher and giver of life and all it’s amazing gifts. Funeral Service to be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 10:00 a.m., at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
