Jimmy Dale Slaymaker's Obituary
Jimmy Dale Slaymaker passed away on May 22, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. He was born on October 30, 1948, in Tulsa, OK, son of Robert and Margie Slaymaker. He was married to Terri Slaymaker in June of 1972, for almost 50 years.
Jim graduated from Webster High School, received an undergraduate degree from Northeastern State University, and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow. Jim was a proud Marine Corps veteran, who served his country in the Vietnam War.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors – whether it was on the golf course, lake or watching his granddaughter’s soccer games. He had a gift of making all those around him feel special. Jim’s charisma drew others to him, but it was his authenticity that made him a friend to all. He was helpful, a great listener, and a dedicated friend. Most of all, Jim lived a life full of faithfulness and devotion. He was a loving caregiver for his spouse and two special needs children, showing the utmost example of love and commitment to the very end. His greatest pride was being, “Papa” to his six grandchildren.
Jim is proceeded in death by his loving spouse, Terri Slaymaker, parents Robert and Margie Slaymaker, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Wayne and Louise Caves.
He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Stephanie and Chad Caruth, Jamie and Buddy Lewis, Spence and Jennifer Slaymaker, Jacob Slaymaker and Jade Slaymaker; six grandchildren, Ashley, Ryann, Jaelee, Mackenzie, Holden, and Sophie; his sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Clarence Vandiver, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Susan Caves.
Jim also leaves behind many additional family members and wonderful friends that will treasure his memory and miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. located at
First Baptist Church Broken Arrow, Student Center, 100 W. Albany St., Broken Arrow, OK 74012.
Family has asked that in lieu of flowers donate in Jim Slaymaker's name and honor to Clarehouse, 7617 S Mingo Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133.
