Jimmy Don "JD" Winkle's Obituary
Jimmy Don (J D) Winkle born on March 5th, 1936, to Otis Winkle and Loretta Velma Quinn in Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on 9-11-2022. He is survived by his spouse of 24 years, Carrol, and five children from a previous marriage, Todd, Tommy, Teressa McCord, Curtis, and Jimmie Lee, 11 Grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
J.D. is a graduate of Lowell High School and was a star football athlete. He also attended missionary college in Oklahoma. He served in the National Guard of the U.S. and received his honorable discharge in 1954.
He was a man of many aspirations and a variety of talents. He owned a Ford dealership in Cushing, Oklahoma, and owned a horse ranch where he raised racehorses. In addition, he raised and trained hunting dogs. He was the founder and owner of Lifetime Dog Boxes. He received his pilot’s license in 1986 and flying was one of his passions.
His greatest passion was golf. He received his USGTF Professional/teaching certification in 1999 and taught golf at several high schools, country clubs, and golf courses, and instructed many well-known golfers. He was Regional General Manager of 9 of the Lindsay Golf Courses before retiring in 2007. He received several awards for his golfing accomplishments, but through all of the recognition, he remained humble and a thankful individual.
