Jo Ann Riddle Vaughan's Obituary
Jo Ann Riddle Vaughan, age 95, passed away December 25, 2022. She was born at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa on November 18, 1927. She is the youngest daughter of Amos John Riddle and Idotha Jeanette Tanner Riddle. She attended Tulsa Public Schools graduating from Central High School in 1945 and then attending Tulsa University where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She met the love of her life, W. Ray Vaughan in Tulsa on V.J. Day 1945. They married in July 1946. Together they had one daughter, Carolyn Jeanne in 1952. JoAnn was a faithful member of Northside Christian Church for over 50 years. While her daughter was in school, she was active in PTA and was a Girl Scout Brownie leader. She worked in Accounting and retired from Broken Arrow Federal Savings & Loan in 1973. JoAnn was an avid reader, a wonderful Mother and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling with Ray in their RV and watching her grandchildren play soccer. In her younger years she kept active by water skiing, swimming, ice skating and square dancing. She loved her cats, bunco nights and playing train dominos on Sundays after dinner. Those who knew her loved her sweet disposition and her love of the lord.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband after 53 years of marriage, both parents, her 2 older sisters and a younger half-brother. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Hodges and husband Allen of BA, grandchildren Garrett Phelan and wife Lori of Tulsa, and Barbie Dismuke and husband Chad of BA. Great grandchildren Keaton Olu, Ashley Phelan, Austin Phelan, and Allie Phelan. Half-sister Jill Bonzer, brother-in-law Bob Newman of CO, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Heaven has gained a wonderful spirit.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 29, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Funeral will be held at Northside Christian Church 1221 N. Elm Pl, Broken Arrow, Ok 74012, on Friday December 30, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations in Jo Ann's honor and name be made to the St. Jude's Hospital.
