Joan Copeland's Obituary
The journey of Joan Elizabeth Blakeley began in Tulsa Oklahoma on March 18, 1940 her parents, Helen Woodard and Jesse Blakeley welcomed a beautiful baby girl into their family where she was the oldest of four children. At a young age, Joan made her way to Compton, CA to stay a while with her Aunt Marie. While in Compton, Joan attended elementary in junior high school after returning back to Tulsa around 1956 Joan attended Booker T Washington high school, where she was a “Steppin Majorette” and graduating with the class of 1958. Previous to graduation she met Thomas E Todd Senior, and to this union four children were born.
Joan was a dedicated hard worker employed by Arco Chemicals for 15 years. She then pursued a career with AAA insurance company and retiring in 2016 after 20 years of service. Joan loved her family being with her children, grands and great grands. Joan loved hanging out at the shopping centers doing what she did “shop till she dropped.”
In 1994 Joan met and married Justin Copeland they were married for 32 years till death did them part. They did some traveling over the years and loved finding new restaurants and different foods.
Joan is preceded in glory by her parents, Helen and Jessie, children Ronald Clifton, Frederick Dwayne, one grandson Mario Parker, great grandson Dontre’ Mason Todd; siblings, Jean Neal, Linda, and Troy Berry.
Left to cherish her memories or her dedicated husband, Justin Copeland of Tulsa, OK her children, Thomas, E, Todd Junior (Janice) of San Diego, CA, Debra Todd (Curtis) of Tulsa, OK, grandchildren Antonio Todd, Ebony Todd, Terry Dumas, Kormeshia Willis (Laguan) and Brandy Todd of all Tulsa, OK, Keilani, Thomas Todd III of San Diego, CA, nineteen great-grands and four great-great- grands. Along with a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her so very much
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2nd, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home
Funeral service will be held Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Rose Chapel
