JoAnn Maxine Leslie, a remarkable woman of many talents and boundless energy, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2025, surrounded by love and family. Born on Independence Day in 1935, JoAnn's vibrant spirit and independence remained a hallmark of her life.
JoAnn was a woman of deep passions and extraordinary skill. She adored fishing, cultivating her garden, and creating beautiful works through sewing. Her kitchen was a haven where she demonstrated her love through unforgettable meals. Known especially for her fried fish, JoAnn was an incredible cook, a wonderful baker, and even a candy maker who sweetened many lives.
JoAnn had a zest for adventure and travel, always ready to explore and camp with a twinkle of excitement in her eye. Her unparalleled organizational skills and tireless work ethic led her to be lovingly dubbed a "workaholic." She was renowned for transforming her own home—and the homes of many others—with a fresh touch every few years. As her husband, Harmon, fondly noted, "JoAnn could keep a platoon of 20 men busy!"
A pillar of strength and guidance, JoAnn kept her family lovingly "in line." She took pride in her career as an executive secretary for the Tulsa Public School system, where her professionalism shone. Her ability to type 200 words a minute flawlessly exemplified her dedication and precision.
JoAnn is survived by her beloved children: Linda Whisenant and husband John Vandeusen; Lonnie Leslie; and Lisa Swanson. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Leslie and husband Tim Keiser of Houston, Texas; Kindell Whisenant and husband Sean Schwegler of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Nicole Leslie of Keifer, Oklahoma; and Kyle and wife Brook Leslie of Rapid City, South Dakota. Her legacy lives on through her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Noah, and Wyatt Keiser; and Kolson, Koreigh, and Knoxson Leslie. She is also remembered fondly by a host of extended family and dear friends.
JoAnn is reunited with her husband, Harmon Leslie, and her grandsons, Cory Leslie and Cody Leslie, embracing them once more in peace and eternity.
JoAnn Maxine Leslie was a woman of boundless heart, tireless energy, and countless gifts. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Her life, rich with love, adventure, and dedication, is a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
