Joanne Horner's Obituary
Joanne Horner passed from this life at age 93 on February 20, 2024. She was born on January 23,
1931, to Joseph Gordon Dobbs and Minnie lva Deckerd Dobbs at home in Coweta, Oklahoma. She
was the seventh child in what would become a family with eight children Opal Mae, Edd, Benny
Harold, Jim Adrian, Edith Irene, Betty Jewel and Reba Gail. From all those Dobbs children came 19
first cousins --- today there are first cousins once, twice, three times removed.
Joanne had one daughter, Becky Engle Terhune, and 4 stepsons, Arnold, George, Johnny, and Jacky
Horne. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, A.G. Horner, and her sons Arnold,
George and Jacky. Along with Johnny (Darlene), Becky, daughters-in-law, Linda M. Horner and Linda
W. Horner, she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren
and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joanne was a homemaker, avid gardener and loved her family. She and her brothers and sisters
were so very close. Thru these last 20 years as each one passed on she felt their loss strongly. Then
two years ago when her baby sister, Reba, went to sleep she just did not want to go on!! She hated
not having anyone to call and ask a question about the past. She was the end of a generation and
those of us left behind are feeling her loss in so many ways. So let us talk about her, laugh at the
stories, for in doing that we will keep her alive in heart and mind.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Floral Haven Rose Chapel.
